Modbus TCP/IP Communication Module - Client Only
MVI69-MNETC
The MVI69 Modbus TCP/IP Client Communication Module is designed to allow CompactLogix and MicroLogix processors to interface easily with other Modbus TCP/IP protocol-compatible devices.
Compatible devices include not only Modicon processors (which support the Modbus TCP/IP protocol) but also a wide assortment of other server devices.
Features and Benefits
This module was created to improve the performance when obtaining data from multiple servers on a Modbus TCP/IP network. The module supports up to 30 client connections with up to 16 commands for each client, making it easy to enable/disable the commands from the ladder logic. The client command control word contains one bit for each command. This module does not support the conditional write command.
Some of the other features include:
- Support for the storage and transfer of up to 5000 registers to/from the CompactLogix processor's controller tags
- Module memory usage that is completely user definable
- 10/100 MB Ethernet compatible interface
- Configurable parameters for the client include:
- Minimum Command Delay
- User Defined Commands (Read/Write)
Applications
With the growing trend of Ethernet technology in the industrial marketplace, this product has a wide variety of application uses.
- Food processing
- Petrochemical
- Pulp and paper
- Automobile manufacturing
- Water and Wastewater
- Oil and Gas
- Power and Electric
Functional Specifications
- Some of the general specifications include:
- Support for up to 30 clients.
- Support for the storage and transfer of up to 5000 registers to/from the processor's controller tags
- Module memory usage that is completely user definable
- 10/100 MB Ethernet compatible interface
- Configurable parameters for the client include:
- Minimum Command Delay
- User Defined Commands (Read/Write)
Client Specifications
- A client configured as a virtual Modbus master device on the MVI69-MNETC module will actively issue Modbus TCP/IP commands to other nodes on the Modbus TCP/IP network.
- Sixteen commands are supported for each of the 30 clients with the module.
- The processor can be programmed to control the activity on the client by actively selecting commands from the command list to execute or issue commands directly from the ladder logic.
